Almost there...

I think each subset of my friends has sent me a note letting me know that Douglas Adams passed away on Friday. This is such a bummer. Though he wasn't the most prolific writer, each one of his books was eagerly anticipated. His dry wit combined perfectly with his vision for the absurd in life to form some of my favorite books. The inappropriately named Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy trilogy is a classic of both science fiction and humor. Everyone I know understands that you should never go anywhere without your towel and knows that the ultimate answer to the ultimate question about life, the universe, and everything is 42. And this doesn't even cover the whole Dirk Gentley series.

Quite a bummer. Hopefully there will be more writers like him in the future.
