Science News

And then sometimes, science news makes you very sad. How about a nice longitudinal study that shows that cell phone users "are 50 percent more likely than non-users to develop brain tumors." And what do they define as a cell phone user? Someone who makes one call, once a week. Those of us chatting away for longer are probably totally screwed.

  • One of my uncle's guessed that his brother's brain tumor (and inevitable death) may have been caused from cellphone usage. Not our little phones, but the actual carphone attached to the car that emitted larger doses of bad stuff. If the study is tracking 10+ year old tumors, maybe the amount of radiation and whatever is smaller nowadays.

  • p.s. When my uncle was diagnosed with a brain tumor, I researched online and found that even after surgery most brain tumor survivors live less than five more years.
